The Promised Land

Soon after Jerry and Sonja Dickherber established the Celebrate Jesus of Haiti mission, it became their desire to help the Haitians to become self-sufficient and no longer dependent on the generosity of others for their food.

A twenty acre plot of ground was purchased for this purpose, and became known as "The Promised Land."

Fulfilling the Dream

The dream is starting to become a reality with gardens growing and producing a crop in 2009. This was the result of a great deal of hard work by the local people and by Jerry. Each church member has one small garden plot for food and to provide income for their family by selling produce at a covered market in Anse-A-Galet.

The Future

Jerry is working with the locals to create small reservoirs that will catch some of the rainwater that comes down the mountain, to use in irrigation. This phase of the project is well underway.
